건축주가 처음 설계를 의뢰하며 희망한 주택은 다양한 변화가 있는 공간에 재미있는 요소가 있으면서, 장아산을 바라보는 아득한 마당을 갖춘 따뜻한 분위기를 주는 집이었다.
또한, 대지 앞 도로에서 바라보는 집의 모습은 프라이버시 노출을 최소화할 수 있는 창과 외부디자인을 갖추고, 기능적으로는 채광과 환기가 용이하며 철저하게 비를 피할 수 있는 독립적인 주차장이 건물과 잘 어우러진 디자인을 희망했다.

결과적으로 건물배치는 북쪽 도로를 등지고, 남쪽 장아산을 향해 마당을 배치했다. 도로에서 집을 봤을 땐 유니크하고 단단한 요새와 같은 느낌을 주지만, 마당에서 보는 건물은 남동향의 장점과 장아산의 녹지를 담을 수 있는 큰 창을 계획해 햇빛이 잘 드는 풍성하고 따뜻한 분위기를 형성했다.

북쪽 현관 진입로 작은 마당에는 계수나무를 심어 집에 드나들며 자연의 변화를 느낄 수 있도록 하고, 내부에 들어서자마자 남쪽 큰 마당의 녹지가 눈앞에 펼쳐지는 다채로운 장면을 연출했다. 현관 안쪽 서재 대청마루는 여유로운 마당 풍경과 함께 움직임에 중심을 잡고 활기를 부여한다. 집 내부의 공간은 벽으로 공간을 구획하지 않고, 한두 단의 단차로 시선은 확장하되, 자연스럽게 각각의 공간 역할은 독립적일 수 있도록 하여 리듬감 있는 공간감을 계획했다.

2층 공용공간인 가족실은 프라이빗한 안방과 아이방 사이에 놓여 두 공간 사이의 완충공간으로서 역할을 한다. 서로 눈을 맞추고, 동시에 재미있는 단차와 상부 다락과의 연결로 시각적으로 확장되어 넓어 보이는 효과를 주는 공간이기도 하다. 책을 좋아하는 건축주 가족을 위해 디자인된 가족실은 많은 책을 꽂을 수 있는 책장과 함께, 계단과 벤치평상에 걸터앉아 책을 넘기며 여유를 즐길 수 있는 공간이 될 것이다.

When he requested its design, the client's house was to give a warm atmosphere with a cozy yard overlooking Mt. Jang-a while having exciting elements in a space with various changes.
The client wanted the house to be equipped with the windows and exterior design to minimize the exposure of privacy to the road in front of the site and have an independent parking lot that can be functionally well-lighted and ventilated, harmonizing with the building.

As a result, the building sits on the north road at the back, with the yard facing Mt. Jang-a in the south. When looking at the house from the road, it is like a unique and strong fortress, but the building seen from the yard has a large window with the strengths of facing southeast and showing Mt. Jang-a's landscape creates a sunny and warm atmosphere.

Cassia trees are planted in the small yard at the north entrance, allowing you to feel the change of nature as you enter the house. The greenery of the large yard in the south unfolds before your eyes. Daecheongmaru(Traditional Korean Floor) of the study room inside the front door keeps the valance of movement, providing vitality along with the relaxed landscape of the yard. The house's indoor space is designed to be rhythmic by expanding gaze using a difference of one or two-floor levels, not separating area by walls, while enabling each space to be naturally independent.

The family room, a shared space on the second floor, is located between the private master room and the child room, and it serves as a buffer space between the two areas. It is also a space that makes eye contact with each other and effectively looks large through an exciting difference of floor level and the connection with the upper attic. The family room, designed for the client’s family who likes books, will be a space to have a bookcase filled with readers to spend hours reading books while sitting on the steps and bench.
