용촌동 정방마을의 고즈넉하고 정감어린 마을 한 귀퉁이에 세어하우스 ‘에멜 무지로’가 자리잡았다. 실험과 모험으로 시작된 작은 일탈이 시초였다. 첫삽을 뜨고 완공까지 모든 디테일한 부분을 건축주와 상의하며 작은 공간까지 내용 있는 건물을 만들고자 했다.

 

1층에 거실과 식당을 열린공간으로 배치하여 소규모 갤러리나 하우스콘서트 등 함께 삶을 나누는 공간을 마련하고, 2층은 각자의 삶을 돌아보며 잠시 머무 는 개인적인 공간을 만들어 필요로 하는 이의 편안한 쉼터를 만들고자 했다.

 

공간의 효율성과 함께 내부 단차, 복층 공간, 외부 테라스 등을 두어 작지만 다 양한 표정의 내부 공간을 형성하도록 했다. 세로로 긴 창문으로 들어오는 한줄기 빛을 보노라면 누군가에게 들릴지도 모를 기도 한 줌을 올리게 되는 따뜻한 집이 되고자 했다.

 

협소한 대지선형을 따라 형성된 건물외관은 세련된 금속재질로 된 박공지붕의 날렵함과 어우러져 개성있고 역동적인 모습으로 정방마을의 단조로운 일상에 신선함을 안겨주는 듯 하다.

 

굳이 자연을 인위적으로 끌어들이지 않아도 이미 우거진 뒷산의 아름다운 숲이 건물을 둘러싸고 있다. 물아일체처럼 ‘에멜무지로’도 거기 머무는 다양 한 이들의 삶의 모습들이 흔적으로 남아 또 다른 모습으로 진화되기를 기다 려 본다.

In the corner of a quiet and affectionate village in Jeongbang Village, Yongchon-dong a share house "Emelmoojiro" is located. A small deviation from experiment and adventure was the beginning. Discussing with the client about every detail from the first shovel to the completion. We wanted to build a substantial building including even small spaces.

 

We laid out a living room and a dining room on the first floor as open space to make shared space to enjoy a small gallery or house concert together. On the second floor, we would like to create personal space where people stay a little while looking back on their lives so that it can be a comfortable rest area.

 

In addition to spatial efficiency, indoor leveldifference, multi-storied space, outdoor terrace were placed, so small yet diverse facial expressions of indoor space was formed. When we saw a streak of light coming in through a long vertical window we hoped that it will be a warm house that would offer a prayer that someone might hear.

 

The exterior of the building formed along a narrow land line is harmonized with the sleekness of a gable roof made of sophisticated metal, and is so characteristic and dynamic that it seems to bring freshness to the monotonous daily life of Jeongbang Village.

 

Even if we do not intentionally attract nature, the beautiful forest of a wooded mountain at the back of the building already surrounds the building. Like Murailchi(I’m becoming one with the object), hopefully the lives of many people who stay in “Emelmoojiro” also will remain as traces and evolve into another form.
