필로티 구조로 누마루 슬래브를 ‘한 손으로 쟁반을 받치듯이’ 띄워 올려, 그 아래로 주차와 현관, 수납 등을 계획하였다. 나머지 공간에도 선큰과 채광창, 자연스러운 레벨 변화를 주어 한옥 ‘아래 공간’을 ‘밝고 쾌적한 거주공간’으로 만들 수 있으리라 생각했다. 실제로 만들어진 공간은 주차와 현관 등 한옥의 부족한 부분을 보완하는 역할을 넘어, 모던한 공간 속에 가족들이 모여 단란한 시간을 보내는 ‘독자적인 삶의 영역’이 되었다.

한옥을 현대건축의 중요한 주제로 보고 작업을 이어가고 있다. 낙락헌은 이러한 우리의 태도가 잘 드러난 작업이라 할 수 있다. 한옥의 경계를 과거의 형상 속에만 묶어두지 않고, 우리 시대의 기술과 개념을 적용하여 새로운 형상으로 그 경계를 확장하고자 하였다. 더불어 지금 우리들의 삶과 호흡하는 ‘살아있는 집’을 만들기 위해 전통과 현대의 양식이 유연하게 공존하는 보편적인 생활양식, 즉 ‘주거의 새로운 스타일’을 제안하고자 하였다. 우리의 삶이 이미 현실과 가상공간 속에서 매우 복합적이라는 점을 감안하여 볼 때, 이러한 ‘맥락의 재구성’은 앞으로의 건축에 새로운 가능성이 될 것이다.

The Numaru (upper floor) slab with pilotis is raised ‘as if supporting a tray with one hand,’ and the space for parking, entrance, and storage is designed beneath it. By giving a sunken, skylight, and natural level change, the rest of the space could become a ‘bright and comfortable living space.’ Indeed, space plays the role of supplementing the shortcomings of hanok, such as parking and entrance, and has become “their own living area” where the family gets together in a modern space for delightful conversation.

Our work continues, regarding hanok as an essential theme of modern architecture. Nakrakheon (knock knock) is a kind of work that shows our attitude well. We tried not to fix the boundaries of hanok only in the form of the past, but to expand the boundaries of hanok to a new level by applying new technologies and concepts of our time. In addition, to create a' living house' that breathes together with our lives now, we attempted to propose a universal lifestyle in which both traditional and modern styles coexist flexibly, that is, a 'new style of residence'. Considering that our lives are already very complex in real and virtual spaces, this "reconstruction of context" will be a new possibility for future architecture.
